Yeah, yeah... old movie, I know. I saw it when I landed at Schiphol Airport some weeks ago, and I always want to get something for when I'm in my hotel room at night (movie, game, etc.).

BOONDOCK SAINTS 2:ALL SAINTS DAY
One of the best pieces of cinematography out there. But you should watch the first one first. It's on youtube, just search boondock saints part 1

Re: Movies
I watched "Borat" for the first time this weekend. I thought it was funny. Bit similar to Ali G In Da House, although that one got a bit broing and predictable. At least with Borat the "story" was somewhat more fun...

Re: Movies
I have seen some trailers. But I'm not yet convinced. It looks too..... fake to me. I'm sure that the experience with the 3d technics etc. are great, but the trailers still give me the impression of a simple, computer animated movie, similar to Tinkerbell or so...
Perhaps I'm just getting too old for this. I also didn't like the Transformers movie either, because that movie in no way resembles the real transformers feeling that I had when I watched the cartoons on sky channel when I was 10-11 years old. Too much special effects, never a real clear view on how the transformation takes place, etc. I have that same feeling with Avatar, even though there are no old cartoons or a generation difference.

I saw Avatar yesterday (not in 3D) and I really enjoyed it! I didn't think it looked fake at all. There was much attention given to every detail

Re: Movies
OK. So the effects were amazing - I kind of had the same feeling as when Jurassic Park when it came out, you just know CGI has just been brought to the next level - but the STORY. Sheesh. Cameron couldn't write a decent script to save his life.
A special effects movie without a decent story is like watching a kaleidoscope without enjoying some giggle-tobacco at the same time; the colors are pretty, but it gets boring real quick.
I hope Cameron has stocked up on Oscar-polish though.

Re: Movies
Ok, Just saw Avatar in 3D last night. I was pretty good. Story was a typical action/adventure story line.
I wasn't impressed with the 3D though. I seem to remember being more impressed with the 3D effects in Journey to the Center of the Earth.
I will say that the planet and creature creation ideas presented were very neat. A lot of eye candy for sure! I also appreciate that even though it was 3D they didn't do any cheap 3D parlor tricks.
I felt bad for my wife though, all the aerial scenes made her nauseous. She cannot do 3D video games either.
Yeah, there was a social/political message in there, but it was easy to over look and just enjoy the scenery. I also found myself getting attached to the characters, so overall they did a good job of pulling me into it.
