What electronic equipment do you always carry with you?
POTD: Handheld stuff
I have several handheld toys and tools that I use every day. A blackberry (mobile phone), mp3 player, PSP, PDA, and some more stuff.
What do you think is the handiest, most comfortable and nicest thing to have with you at all times? Please choose only one thing.
And of course I know that nowadays many functions are combined in 1 thing, e.g. mobile phone with camera and mp3 player. But if you have to choose: which feature do you like most?
Mobile phone
PSP / Nintendo / etc.
mp3 player
PDA
Heart rate monitor
Vibrator
Or something else?

Re: POTD: Handheld stuff
I chose for my PDA. I have an old one, but I always am reading book on it. I have complete libraries on it, and I can read books wherever I am, and it fits easily in my pocket.
I don't really like mobile phones, as I don't like being called wherever I am all the time. It's handy for when you are delayed or so, but I don't see the point in calling just for the calling itself.
PSP is great, I love it. Especially as you can also watch movies on it. I'm also using it as an mp3 player. If I have to choose between games/movies or books, I'd still go for the books (PDA).
MP3 player is great, especially when I'm doing sports. I have a very small one, that I can take with me anywhere. I love music, can't live without it. But you can also listen to music in other ways.

Re: POTD: Handheld stuff
For a while I carried a PDA, Mobile phone, and an MP3 player. It was such a hassle I told myself if they ever created a device that could do all that, and be compact (the size of a palm PDA) I'd pay $500 for it. I'd even throw in another $200 for GPS.
Then the iphone 3G came out. I didn't want one, but it did everything decently well. Plus, it sounded much better than my current phone, had more capabilities than any of my MP3 players including a 5th gen iPod. It did all this for under $300.
The part of the US I live in, the land phone systems are screwy so almost everything has a long distance cost. We travel a lot too. Therefor it made sense for us to get rid of the land line and only have mobile phones.
Therefor, that's how we roll. There wasn't a smart phone option so I just put mobile phone. But my iphone does almost all of that.

Re: POTD: Handheld stuff
I used to have both an iPod and a mobile phone, now I have a mobile phone that plays mp3s, is smaller than an iPod and can store 2GB of data, which I can increase to 10 GB if need be, so I carry that around instead
I also have a Nintendo DS, which is nice until they want you to scream at the DS and you're in the train...

Re: POTD: Handheld stuff
It's got a microphone in it. Some games like Zelda: The Phantom Hourglass want you to blow in it at points at the game, but there are also large-eared enemies that you can either defeat by a long fight or by screaming at your DS. And sometimes there are people far away you need to talk to, so then you have to scream at your DS as well...

Mobile fonez. Between work and friends it gets the most done and when I go places its the only thing I make sure I have.
I got the Droid so I can play good games and browse the internet and listen to music on it.
