I'd like to see that we can get this right. It's embarasing that we still don't do this as effectively as we should.
This is what I suggest:

A. All potential members are referred to the membership section, they sign up there following the sticky and also agree to abide by the alliance charter.

B. A thread is started in the aid section, in the form: "New membership aid - >new member name<". In this thread old member sign up to one or more of the following: 1. Provide financial aid. 2. Provide help with setting up tech deals. 3. Assist in setting up efficient trades. 4. Act as a "mentor" for the new member, a contactperson if you will.

C. After, and only after, those spots are filled do we announce in their membership thread that they've been accepted in the alliance and that they may change their alliance affiliation, and as a word of advice change their team to green too.

D. We refer them to the new membership thread created in B, where they can find the info on who's helping with what.

I'd like to see us ad something in the application part about their agreeing to check the site, abide by the rules, and offer some minimum of involvement.
